An Epiphany of love's lack.

Waking up this morning an uneasiness afoot.
A clench in the chest and all seemed moot.
Stories of viruses, dead elephants, and death by asphyxiation spread.
Made one wonder. Is there a point to this life they led?
Polluted, corrupted, ill at head and heart.
The world was facing doom, its taste was now tart.
Safety under roofs, and yet all was not at peace.
There’s simply too much pain. Oh, when will it begin to cease?
Summer is here, yet the world’s heart turned cold.
Is there ever going to be a moment’s worth of unadulterated love, if I may be so bold?
Numbers, Alas! Everything is now a number.
Relationships too, they’re too calculated. Feels like love’s taken an eternal slumber.
Gone are the days where we’re satisfied and content.
Cold wars, hoarding, hate, metaphorical fires. Only these seem to be the intent.
Not peace or love, but fear drives our instinct.
What a pointless life to lead, by such instincts! The negativity we harbor, ought to go extinct.
Preoccupation surges, with meaningless worries. What does the future hold?
Lo, behold! What a waste! You’ve missed out on your present. Those worries, such fool’s gold.
Our lives are a precious gift, our mothers have painfully given.
Kindness, empathy, and love, are qualities by which it ought to be driven.
So much hate, so much anger, so much negativity, a world now mostly driven by apathy.
Look around you to your fellow humans, invoke your humanity, and shower your empathy.
Our lives are short, and it lies in our hands to make it sweet and worthwhile.
For if not for our humanity, and compassion, we as “Humans” are simply futile.
Start with your loved ones, show them some kindness.
Dance to your conscience. Never be cruel, and don’t give in to society’s oft cruel blindness.
After the loved ones, move on to your fellow beings. And spread love like wildfire.
Prove Compassion’s worth, and don’t let the concept of human beings be subject to satire.
Live in the present. Never compromise on love, in the woes of tomorrow.
Beware! For in your woes, all that you value may fade away, leaving you in eternal sorrow!
